Still Moon on Fire
Alison MacAlpine and Wende Bartley
1997 Harbourfront Theatre, Toronto
The production was a theatre-opera piece of performance art, with music continually accompanying the text. Part of the challenge was to think through the body in tension and the body’s intention through the music. What happened on the set structurally, for example ‘fire’, was a performative element of the bodies on stage. This piece was a key collaboration for me, working for the first time with a writer, composer, singer/actor, on developing a sustained piece of intermedial performance.
