2014 Assembly Rooms Edinburgh Festival Fringe
Shogo Ota rewrote Elements before he died in 2007, and I directed the new version at the Assembly Rooms in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, on a completely different set to the one we collaborated on in 1994. One of the key strategies in the staging was the use of googleglasses that were worn by one of the actors and projected onto a back screen. There was something incredibly suffocating and alienating about the internal world the images built to contain the figures on stage.
