The cast was in trans-gender casting – extending from my experiments with single-sex casting of the play 20 years before. Staged in an arena theatre space, so there could be no authoritative point of view, the audience continued to be the main character in the production. Actors’ were playing the situation with each other/ with the audience, rather than “inhabiting” characters. All scenes were simultaneously rehearsed in the room. I pursued the collaborations that I had started in my other productions out to the actors who took responsibility for costumes, props, music, the stage furniture, programs.
